As they say for a long time: "attracts - it means loves." We noticed that wherever we go, we go to look at local souvenirs and be sure to buy fridge magnets. Apparently we are attracted to them. And for good reason. Indeed, in every souvenir fridge magnet there is a magnet, that is, it contains a part and strength of that magical and mystical stone of antiquity, which can attract to itself. And as a souvenir, we take it as a souvenir, as a part of the place we have visited, or rather our good emotions associated at that moment with this place. So we get such a good positive attraction to the colorful and cool fridge magnets.

It is because of the properties of a magnet - to attract iron, in almost all countries of the world at different times, people called it most often, if you translate literally "beloved", "loving", "lover", "loving stone". Although there were other names for the magnet, more precisely, magnetic iron ore, now - magnetite, officially since 1845.

If you collect the names of the magnet in different parts of the world, then they will sound differently.

China - tsi-shi (chu-shi), nitshi-chi - basically the translation of "loving stone".

Greece - kalamita, adamas, adamam, siderite, “Hercules stone”, magnet.

"Hercules" - as it can lift a mass more than itself, and also mined magnetite in Lydia near the city of Hercules. Siderite - translated as "diamond", as the Greeks called soft iron, magnet and rough diamond - for its iron luster.

France - Aman, Aiman, Aimant. There is an opinion that the word diamond appeared from the confusion with siderite. There are versions that from the word "loving", as in most countries. The French pronounce the word aimant as - eman, which literally means loving.

There are so many names, but this is still the same natural magnet, with its extraordinary properties. When people have studied these properties and can themselves create artificial, more powerful magnets, already with various additional properties suitable for us, for example, flexible magnets, lighter, with a more powerful lifting force, which do not lose their properties at different temperatures, etc.

But, all different materials that have magnetic properties we call magnets, regardless of size, type and place of application.

It is interesting that without the invention of an artificial magnet and the use of magnetic properties, with the use of which all our household appliances work, there would be no modern refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, mobile phone and computer and other equipment to which we are all so accustomed.

And the souvenir fridge magnets we are used to are also magnets. Sometimes we call fridge magnets - just a magnet or fridge magnet, which are in the form of: tourist, souvenir, photo, holiday-themed (for example, New Year's, for lovers, etc.), advertising, educational, etc. Materials and appearance, sizes and cost are also varied.

Leading in creativity are ceramic fridge magnets, in which, in most cases, hard metal magnets are used to attach them to the refrigerator.

Vinyl magnets - the laminated pattern is attached entirely to a flexible vinyl based magnet - the lightest, but strong enough and the lowest cost. Acrylic fridge magnets - a photo or drawing is inserted into acrylic transparent plastic, durable and lightweight, these are more photo magnets.

Wooden, acrylic and vinyl magnets are attached to the refrigerator using a flexible, lightweight vinyl-based magnet, which attaches the souvenir magnet well to the surface of the refrigerator and makes the magnets lighter in weight, which is good for transporting them, for kitchens with a ceramic tile floor.

But, the same magnetic force that mankind discovered in ancient times in the black stone of magnetite keeps them all on the wall of the refrigerator.
